QUOTES AND NOTES
Winning coach Scott Miller, Plano
``I'm just overjoyed with the opportunity to play on Saturday. To play for the state championship has been a dream for us. I thought these kids battled and competed in the second half. I think in the first half we were a little awe struck and weren't as aggressive and strong as we needed to be. We kind of challenged them a little bit at halftime and as a whole we came back strong.''
``I thought Ryan McCoy's 10 points in the second half were huge. They not only got us back in the game but also helped us take the lead. Roberto Flores' jumper at the beginning of the third quarter got us back in, a couple of jumpers by Brad (Korn) and Ryan's points in the second half were big.''
``We felt very confident in packing it in and taking some time off the clock. We wanted to shorten the game and with one hurt and one with foul trouble, we needed to get things back into perspective.''
``Justin and Ryan set a double screen in the middle. We were looking for option one which was Brad naturally when Ryan cleared out. They played it solo and Brad got a clean look and like he has for the last two years he knocked it down. He's a clutch player.
On Rock Falls - ``I haven't seen them play before tonight but have heard a lot about through word of mouth. I know they look to push the ball up the floor and they like to shot the three. They have a real nice guard in Vance, the All-Stater, so they are a very good ball club. I think they are a lot better than what they showed against St. Mel.''
Losing coach Brad Lee, Carmi (Carmi-White County)
``There isn't a whole lot to say when you lose a game of that nature. We didn't come up here to just say we came to the state finals. We came here to take a trophy of some kind back and we just missed out on a golden opportunity.''
``I thought it was a pretty good game to watch from a fan's standpoint. It wasn't a real high scoring game but there were a lot of different things that were going on out on the floor with each team trying to counter what the other was doing. You have to give credit to Plano. Brad Korn is an awfully good player and he just picked the team up on his back and took them to the win. We did what we could but it just wasn't good enough.''
