QUOTES AND NOTES
Winning coach Landon Cox, Chicago (Martin Luther King, Jr.)
``This game was a more relaxed game. It didn't have as much urgency as the other games we played here. But third place is better than fourth.''
``I don't if I would call it looser. It was just a more relaxed atmosphere.''
``I don't think we got up and down the floor any faster. It was a case where we got more fast breaks. We didn't have to do the chasing tonight. We made them do the chasing.''
``Our injuries are about the same. Imari (Sawyer) is not going to get any better. He playing on one leg and you haven't seen his shot because the injury is throwing his shot off. Leon's (Smith) ankle is still hurting him too. (Rashid) Johnson's ankle is a little better but he injured his hand and now it's all swollen up. It looks like the walking wounded.''
On the delay due to uniforms - ``There was no mix up as far as I'm concerned because I read very well. The rule is the home team is responsible for wearing white and the visiting team can wear whatever they please. Sometimes they let the home team get away with wearing a light color but if the colors clash the home team is responsible for changing jerseys. I brought three sets of uniforms, white, black and gold, so I wouldn't have to mess with having to wash uniforms.''
``We're not happy with third. I wish I could go all the way back and have everybody healthy and play for first. They don't remember anybody but first. They don't remember thirds, if you really want me to tell the truth.''
Losing coach Bob Williams, Schaumburg
``Defensively, we let in the first quarter and that was my fault. We were in a fullcourt defense and it was not very effective. We went halfcourt and it was more effective.''
``The second half we couldn't get ourselves righted as far as our defensive stance.''
``As far as the season I'm proud of these guys behind me. I wouldn't have anybody else standing there.''
``They're not a group of kids hugely talented although there is some great talent here. Not anywhere near one of the most talented teams here but they play hard, work hard and work together.''
``We have four loses Thornridge, which made the Sweet 16, and teams that finished one, two and three in the state.''
