Winning coach: Cliff Cameron, Pleasant Plains - ``It's just nice to know we're going to be in the championship game tonight. Sometimes you never know how you're going to come out and play. From the tip off I knew we were going to have a good game because I could see the energy and enthusiasm that we had. We picked up quickly and it seems like we were a step quicker right off the bat. Joey Albsmeyer led us in our attack early in our game with his aggressiveness and by hitting some three's. With just his penetration I think he played one of his best games of the season."
``Bureau Valley is an excellent team. We watched them last night and they did some things, which gave us some concern like the 1-3-1 trap. We had to figure a way to attack it and I thought once the game started we got right into it right away and did a nice job of attacking it. We weren't passive, which can hurt you if you're not careful. We were aggressive, which is what we wanted to be."
``It's very nice to win a semi-final game. The last time we were in a semi-final game it was a triple overtime and I was kind of worried about coming back for the championship game. Today we were able to rest some key players to get them ready for tonight. But that wasn't my main concern, it's just the way things work out. We have a lot of kids who work hard in practice every day and today was an excellent chance to give them some playing time in the state tournament."
Losing coach: Brad Bickett, Manlius (Bureau Valley) - ``It was a long afternoon. Plains really got after us. They beat us basically in every facet of the game of basketball. Their kids were really hungry. I thought we lacked some passion and we just didn't execute at either end. They executed everything they did and that makes for a long day of basketball."
``It didn't matter what we did defensively. They just seemed to beat us up and I think a lot had to do with the players. They had great players and they made plays and we didn't seem to be able to make any. They were the better team today."
``We took some bad shots but we took those bad shots early in the game as well. Their defense took us out of our offense. We were really bad offensively so it really didn't matter. Once we got behind, I appreciate the kids' effort they were trying to make some plays but they were doing things uncharacteristic of our team. It just snowballed. One thing led to another and that's just the way it happened."
``I could care less about tonight, I was worried more about today. My biggest thing was, I was concerned for the kids who've been with us all year long, they've worked hard in practice that maybe don't get to play that much. We get ourselves down here and our first few guys are not playing that well, I think there's other guys who work hard in practice and they deserve a chance to get out on this floor and play. I wasn't concerned about resting anyone at all. It was just all about getting the other kids some time out on this floor."
