QUOTES AND NOTES
Winning coach: Brad Bickett, Manlius (Bureau Valley) - ``To start off, I didn't think we played very well in the first half. This afternoon's game took a lot out of the coaches and out of these guys. It wasn't that we had lost to a very fine Plains team but it was the way we lost. In the first half tonight I think it was a little bit of disappointment and feeling sorry for ourselves. I told them at half time this is going to be the last 16 minutes of basketball you guys will play together. As coaches we expect a lot more of these guys and we expected them to go out and play with some intensity and passion."
``The run that we've had we've played real hard and we've played very passionately. We felt that they still had enough in them to finish this season and at least take home the third place trophy. The kids responded and came out of the locker room and gave us a great run. I can't tell you how proud I am of them and how proud the community must feel."
``We've had some great seniors and these guys behind me are the group I'm talking about. Phil (Endress) this is his third trip here and (Adam) Gutshall this is his second trip and along with Brandon (Bowman), Mike (Jesiolowski), and Gregg (Cooley) have been a very intregral part of our basketball program for the last couple years. I just hope the juniors will see the example they set and be ready to pursue the goals for next year."
Losing coach: Lance Freeman, Tolono (Unity) - ``Obviously we scored more than eight points in the first half. We shot the ball a little bit better in the first half then what we've had lately. We wanted to come out and attack that 1-3-1 trap and we did a good job of it early on and then we turned the ball over. That's what they tried to do."
``Number 32, (Phil) Endress was big tonight for those guys. He had a whale of a game, a good ball game. Defensively we did a good job I think. There's not a whole lot left in our tank the way that we play and the style that we play. We play so hard and maybe we just ran out of juice, not to take anything away from Bureau Valley and congratulations to them."
(Josh Harden on playing three games in 24 hours) ``Playing three games, it's pretty tiring. We got a little break between our first and second game of this day. We just went home and watched some TV and got ready for the game but still your legs are a little worn out from the first one."
(Andy Eisenmenger) ``The most I'm going to remember about this season is playing with these seniors. They put a lot of heart into our team and a lot of leadership and I have faith in our team next year."
``We've seen a lot of different things thrown at us this year and we adjust really well out on the court to what they're doing. It does take something out of you because you're thinking all the time are they going to be 1-3-1 or are they going to be man and physically trying to adapt to that. I think it took a little bit out of us but I don't think we had a big problem with it."
