You saw how Andre (Iguodala) had two or three men on him most of the time. Every time he got the ball he was triple-teamed. So in cases like that you need guys to step up and Tony (Smith) certainly did that."
``I think we played pretty relaxed. From my standpoint I think we felt more pressure in just getting here. Now that we're here we can set our sights on what we want to do and relax a little bit. We're not just here to play; we're here to play for that championship game. The one game that stands out in my mind where we were in a similar situation was the KOMX Shoot-out in St. Louis. It was a big arena and a big crowd and we came out tight and never really lost that. This was very similar but this time we came out loose and focused on playing."
Losing coach: Kevin Hayhurst, South Holland (Thornwood) - ``I think it was a great right from the start that Springfield really got out there in that press and that's what we were very aware of, how they were going to attack us and it was by their full court pressure. And that was one of the weaknesses we had during our year, was when teams were pressuring us up and double-teaming us off man or else a good tough zone press."
``We hadn't seen a couple of guys like (Andre) Iguodala and (Richard) McBride. Those two kids are very special players. They create all kinds of offense for their teammates, strong bodies out there, just the first time I got to see them in person. They were very eye opening tonight out there. Our kids tried to spread the floor but Springfield's quickness and ability to anticipate passes really created some easy transition baskets."
(On Iguodala and McBride) ``Those guys are very good basketball players. They're very difficult to guard one-on-one. We had to give all kinds of help to stop penetration with both of them. They could go inside, they can go outside. They are just players, in high school, that are tough to match up against. It's hard enough when there's one player like that on the opposition let alone two."
``Like I said, the other players that are out there with them (Iguodala and McBride) are also players that can finish. When they get ball in the scoring position they're able to put the ball in the hole and that's a difference. They've got three other players on the floor with them that understand what's going on around them out there on the floor. They can get to the open areas. They slide behind you and the shots that they take are very good shots. They understand their roles."
