Herrin coach Bruce Jilek:
"It's a big game for us, but there's a billion Chinese who don't care. But for us, it's something to remember for the rest of our lives."

"Before the year we told them (the team) we'd be fair. But we got here. That suprised me."

"Rachel (Murray) also helped herself with the hit. And it was a good thing. We needed it."

Herrin pitcher Rachel Murray:
(On four walks) "I seemed to tense up a little bit. I told myself to let them hit and my defense would take care of it."

(On a sore back) " I'm in pain but...(I'm) icing it, doing therapy, sitting in the hot tub at the hotel and now I just play."

Morton coach Gigi McIntosh:
"Herrin is a great ball club. Their pitcher moved the ball around a lot. She's a competitor. They are a scrappy team that comes right at you."

Their pitcher shut us down today."

(About for games in five days) "Our girls are used to playing 5-6 games in one day so that wasn't a factor. They pitched well and executed. We didn't execute the whole tournament. When you get here you expect games like this."

Defense wins championships. Unfortunately in the last five years, that's what has kept us from the big trophy. That's just how it goes."

"We rallied in the sixth inning, showing we didn't just give up. My hat's off to Herrin. Now we're hoping they can bring home the trophy for downstate Illinois."
